Socialise through Sports

Leek Community & Learning Partnership and the recently formed Westwood Community & Learning Partnership have commissioned Stoke City Community Programme to deliver a weekly multi sport activity programme at Brough Park Leisure Centre.
Children and young people from the age of 5-13 years can access the activities giving them the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports.
Adrian Hurst Stoke City Community Programme Manager said "the benefits of a project like this can help address a series of issues and as a professional football club we understand the positive impact that sport can have on individuals and their peers".
Craig Chorlton Community & Learning Partnership Coordinator for Leek said "Stoke City Community Programme coaches deliver a variety of sporting activities enabling the children and young people of Leek to socialise and participate in physical activity in a safe controlled environment".
The delivery of this programme helps address the following issues:
• Promote physical activity & movement
• Develop and acquire new skills
• Promote health lifestyle choices
• Develop self confidence
• Develop self esteem
• Improve communication skills
• Understand sporting opportunities in Staffordshire
• Get involved with appropriate sporting clubs i.e. sign posting

Extended Schools Graffiti Project

Stoke City Community Progamme delivers extended school projects to identified groups of children and young people throughout the Staffordshire Moorlands.
The young people will given the
opportunity to participate in Street Art Workshops delivered by professional supoort staff. The programme is designed to addess issues such as attendance, behaviou and raising self esteem.
Our projects help to address the following benefits:
Aims
To use art/graffiti as a medium to promote:
• Positive role models for young people
• Positive images about Staffordshire Moorlands
• To promote positive activies for young people within Staffordshire Moorlands
• To help achieve the five outcomes of the Every Child Matters
Objectives of the project
• To use art as a positive way to express feelings & deliver positive messages
• To encourgae participation in creative activities
• To identify positive role models & explore what impact these role models can have on improving behaviour & increasing aspirations within the group & their peers
• To enable young people to participate in a project that actively inspires a positive sense of community
• To examine the impact of Graffiti/Street Art as a criminal offence & the effects it has on local communities
• Identify young people's issues within Staffordshire Moorlands
• Develop self confidence / self esteem
• Improve communication skills
